Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose!

Scrapbooking can be an expensive hobby, but it doesn't have to be! You just have to get a little creative about finding ways to reuse the supplies that you have. One of my favorite ways to repurpose my supplies is to use the "frames" left over from punchouts. Here's an example and a few ideas of how to use them:

I love punch outs, especially from My Mind's Eye. They come in great shapes and are so versatile! After you have punched out the cardstock embellishment, you can use the empty space left as a mask for spraying or painting a background on a layout or card. You can also trace the shape onto paper and cut it out to make your own custom shape or banner. That's what I did with this card. I traced the banner from the bottom of the punchout, cut it out, stamped the Happy Halloween sentiment, and assembled the rest of the card. I kept it pretty simple for now, but will probably add to it.

Hope I've inspired you to take a new look at the "trash" that's left behind after you've used a product.

Happy Crafting~

Stephanie, I wish I could post a pic up here.....I too have about 4 "frames" from chipboard elements that I kept for the same purpose. I thought I was the only one...funny! Great recycling share!

Steph, I so loved your post! Am a "firm believer" of recycling and resuing our supplies in some way. I rip-off sticker letter to create another work, use plastic containers as paint container, repurpose a tag or journal blog with paint, use the "skeletons" as templates, etc. You go girl!

Great tip! I tend to re-use packaging a lot (especially the clear plastic packaging and printed chipboard backings, but hadn't thought about the fact that the left-over frames from chipboard pieces make a great stencil!
I also take chipboard embellishments that I don't care for and flip them over to use the back instead. Add paint and a stamped image or word and you have a new embellie!
