Here is another project.....which I have kept in the same theme.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and fall is truly my favorite season.  (And I am so glad that it has cooled down here in So. Cal.  I hope that this is the official cool down and we won't have anymore hot days!)

Here it is!

Project Recipe:
SVG File - Fall Celebration Kit from www.svgattic.com
Cardstock: DCWV Harvest Gatherings Stack
Ink: Color Box Chalk in dark brown  (I used this around all the cuts)
Twine:  Not sure where I got it from but I had this laying around.  LOL

Hope you like it!

P-12 Sketch and Layout Sharing with Luisa

Hi Divas!

Luisa again sharing my August Project 12 Layout!!!

This is my second year doing my project 12 layouts.  I normally follow the sketches provided by becky Fleck for Scrapbook and Cards magazine blog.  In July I did not and the reason was that I printed all my pictures 4x6 and wanted to include all of them.

This is July sketch.

The left side of the sketch has a grid design and I used it to inspire the left side of my July layout! Added individual journaling to each of the photos and very little embellishments since the background is pattern paper.
For the right side. I took the idea of the journaling on the side, but make it smaller and added a strip in "almost the middle" to add a banner and my title.

I do love my end result.

Here is August Sketch. For this layout am going to use Typeset papers from new CTMH collections, which is perfect for back to school layouts!

And this is September Sketch.

If you love sketches as I do, am sure you are delighted with this 3 awesome Becky Fleck from http://www.pagemaps.com/ sketches...

Tutorial: Upcycled Cereal Box Covers

Want a new way to upcycle your cereal box cardboard, and make cute notebooks at the same time? Here's a simple quick tut for you!
First, gather your cereal box of choice, notebook, trimmer with ruler, pen or pencil, and sharp craft scissors. Next, measure your cover and transfer the measurements to your cereal box cover with pen or pencil. Decide if you want to punch the edges for a spiral binding, or leave the edge as is and glue down only. Finally, carefully cut your cereal box and glue it to the cover, covering with mod podge or spray sealant to make it more durable. Voila! Trendy _and_ green living.

What's Black, White, & read all over?

We all remember that riddle from our elementary age.  The answer..the newspaper!  Who cares?  Well our challenge this month revolves around the fact that September is American Newspaper Month!!
"Publick Occurrences, Both Foreign and Domestick, the first newspaper published in America, was printed by Richard Pierce and edited by Benjamin Harris in Boston on September 25, 1690. It filled only 3 of 4 six by ten inch pages of a folded sheet of paper. The journalist stated in his his first (and only) issue that he would issue the newspaper "once a month, or, if any Glut of Occurrences happen, oftener." " You can read all about it at History Buff.com, which is where I copied the above paragraph.  (My daughter-in-law is a History Major, and we get daily--"this day in history" and National Celebration of history updates from her!)

So I thought for our challenge this month, we would do a newspaper theme.  There are options and choices with this...and restrictions!
  •  MUST use colors black, white, & red only, with red only being about 20% of the layout.
  • Option A: Do a newspaper type theme...write your journaling like a paper article, use the comic strip format, (like I did) or make your page a newspaper ad.
  • Option B: Use a pattern paper with a newspaper print or feel to it. Not a letter, but dictionary pages are ok.

Yes I know I am being specific!  That's why it is a challenge!   Let me show you what I did..
I dug DEEP into my stash and came up with some black & white paper.  I didn't have a clue what to do with the crosswords paper, but it came in one of the packets from WalMart, when I first started scrapping. (never get rid of anything, you may some day know how to use it!)  Snoopy is my personal hero so I have lot's of papers and stickers, but didn't know how to work it into a layout either!
And here is my page.  I did a bit of fussy cutting and added my own captions to the bubbles.
Don't laugh, but I didn't have the alphabets I wanted to use at crop at Archiver's Friday (or my scissors or trimmer!  Packing is not my strong point!)  So I bought 5 different kinds of stickers!  Actually 6, but chose not to use them!  My second page will continue with random odd pictures that don't really go anywhere!  I love the picture of my grand-daughter Evelyn putting her foot in her mouth. Took that when they were here for 3 weeks this summer.  And who doesn't like to "dress up"  their dentures? They are not mine, if you are wondering! Nice hat!
Here's a close up of 3 of the stickers. I love the Funny Pages chipboard...they are Cosmo Cricket.  I had to buy the red and the black set.  So you will see them again for sure!
So I am excited to see what you come up with for your challenge project.  Remember the deadline is September 30, at 11:59 CST.
What are you challenging for? How about the yummy new Basic Grey, Out of Print
Paper set.  It comes with 8  double-sided pattern paper. I love this.  So, get out your
adhesives and let's get it going.

Introducing Our September Guest DT Diva

About me...
Michelle, married 15 years. No kids, 5 dogs
How long have you been scrapbooking?
Scrapbooking for 11 years. About 1 year ago I got into copic markers and card making.
What is your scrapbook style?
My SB style I would think is simplistic. When I SB I do like to use at least 3 to 4 pictures per page layout or up to 5 pictures per 2 page layout. I am a little OCD when it comes to SB layouts. ;)

Where do you create your projects?
I used to get together with my sister and friends once a month at each others houses but now I have my own craft room so that is where I do my crafting and scrapping.

What is your favorite scrapbooking tools/colors/techniques?
I love to use muted tones or jewel tones.
Where do you find inspiration?
Magazines and websites

What is favorite scrapbooking tip?
For my layouts , I really love the ripping of two sided paper and using the distressing inks.
First, I would like to say how happy I am glad that the ladies at Creative Scrapbooking Divas have decided to stay.  I get a lot of inspiration for your blog and from all the ladies here.  Secondly, I want to express my excitement to be the first Guest DT under the new monthly challenge format.  It is truely an honor, and I am extremely excited. So let's get started!
I chose to do a pillow box with the fall leaves and the sentiment to reflect my favorite holiday which is Thanksgiving!  I love the fall as the night air begins to get crisp and as the season begins to change.  I wish we saw more leaves changing colors here in Southern California.  As we enter the fall season I begin to think about the Thanksgiving holiday and being with family and enjoying the preparing of the food together and sitting around the table talking.  I also love the left overs!!
Here are the details of my project and some more pictures.  We all love pictures.
The pillow box is an svg file from Lettering Delights (http://www.letteringdelights.com/searchprod.php?search=pillow+box) and the maple leaf is also an svg file from SVG Cuts (http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=42)

I absolutely loved the sentiment because it was so true for me, I do thank God for each of my family members every time I think about them.  I am not only thankful for them on Thanksgiving......but it kept with the theme of Thanksgiving.   The sentiment is from the Praise4Him set from The Stamps of Life (http://www.stephaniebarnardstamps.com/products.htm)  I absolutely love her stamps and I am a club member too!  hehe    I stamped the sentiment in Stampin' Up's pumpkin pie ink.
I tied the pillow box shut with capuccino bakers twine from The Twinery  (http://www.thetwinery.com/product/cappuccino-brown-white-bakers-twine)  The twine is something I just recently fell in love with and finally bought the ultimate sample pack that they have.

I used the Color Box Chalk ink in dark brown and shaded the edges of the maple leaf, the sentiment as well as the entire pillow box along the folds and edges.  This is a technique I seem to use on almost everything.  I really like how it shades and gives everything a aged look.

And that is my project!  I hope you all like it and I hope it gives you some inspiration to join the challenge.
Thank you and God Bless!
~MichelleS
