Hello friends,

Since I have a laptop now... (lol) am surfing the web and just found this article, which immediately called my attention.

How often we scrapbook "about us"? Am sure that the answers are "rarely" or "never". As the memory keepers of our family we should create pages of us for our children en future generations.

I decided, back in 2006 (one year after I started scrapbooking), that I don't want my daughters to be like I am right now, with no pictures (or just a few of them) of my mom and grandma. That's why this article from Ella Publishing was very appealing to me!

JANUARY Challenge - RECIPE 1-2-2-1-2

Hello Scrapalicious Diva Followers and Friends!!!

I am so sorry for the delay in posting the January challenge.  Unfortunately, it is proving a lot more difficult than I anticipated to get back into the swing of things after the Holidays.  I thought that once the Holidays trickled away, there would be more "down time" around my house and it would be easier to fulfill my commitments on time.  Well, that isn't the case.  Time is more scarce than it was around the Holidays.  Hopefully, with a positive outlook for 2012, this will turn around quickly.

So without further ado, I offer you the JANUARY Challenge at CSDivas.  

January 22, 2012 marks my 1 year Blogaversary at Jessica's Craft Shaque and I am planning an awesome celebration with prizes.  Be sure to be on the lookout for the grand announcement.  For the January Challenge, I am asking you to use the following 1-2-2-1-2 (my blogaversary date) recipe to create any Layout, Card, Altered item, 3D item, Home Decor piece, etc.  It's up to you what you create, just as long as you use the required ingredients:

RECIPE:

1 - shape that doesn't have  a straight line (i.e. heart, circle, oval, scallop, etc.)

2 - colors (can be 2 different colors or 2 shades of the same color as long as these are the FOCAL colors in your creation)

2 - buttons, brads, or bling

1 - metal element/embellishment

2 - words, sentiments, or journaling spots

I still have to work on my example project then I will get the pics and deets  uploaded!!!

I hope you enjoy this challenge and it will be open until the January 31, 2012 at Midnight (PST).

OH, Yeah . . . 

And the prize for the randomly chosen winner will get a

January 2012 Guest DT - Liz Terrazas - Part 2

Happy Sunday Divas!

I hope the first week of 2012 has been exciting, productive and PHOTOGRAPHED...

January is a time for resolutions, changes, and making of lists for most people. I, however have another task I must complete. I need to catch up on my 2011 Scrapbook and get it done. How many of you have boxes of photos ready for scrapping but put it off ? or Are you like me and take tons of pictures at all family and friend events that you get overwhelmed by the growing box? If you are like me, then this post is to help motivate you to pull out your fabulous pictures and put your creativity to work.

Scrapbooking for me is so relaxing and enjoyable.. I relive the moments in my photos and have fun seeing the pictures over and over. I've captured a couple of examples I worked on this week. Your book does not have to be full of elaborate embellishments and bells and whistles.. The true essence of your scrapbook should be a reflection of your memories and personality. The book I'm sharing is a 3 ring 12 x 12 Pioneer Album, I purchased at my local Joanns Fabric and Crafts. (Always look for those 40% coupons). The top loading sheet protectors are so easy to work with. I love adding journaling but I'm usually brief about what I write and make sure it explains the pictures for others to understand. Don't be shy about scrapping just 3 photos for an event, you can fill in the page with colored cardstock, stickers, etc to capture the event.

My pages being shared are from my first visit to The County Fair, I was sick and feeling horrible but faked it as best I could so as not to miss the fun activities.

The Scrapbook can be anything you'd like it to be. Remember as you put your memories to paper be true to your feelings about the pictures and journal something that will trigger those great moments for years to come...

Happy New Year Everyone!!  We hope your holidays were filled with lots of love, joy and filled with creativity!!

We are starting off the New Year in a great way here at CSD!!!  We begin the year with our first Guest DT member of 2012!!

I personally have known her since Junior High and have been blessed to be able to reconnect with her through Facebook!  We both share the love of scrapbooking and cardmaking!!  So please say hello, get to know her and join in on the fun!!

About me...  

Hello Everyone, My name is Liz Terrazas and I am excited and admittedly a little nervous to join you as January's Guest DT member.. I am a 40 yr old woman happily in love with a fabulous man who is my best friend and partner.. I have left my corporate career as I was blessed to be my father's caregiver. He is suffering from advanced Alzheimer's amongst other illnesses and he and my mom live with me so that I can care for them.. I do not have children of my own but am surrounded by loving nieces, nephews and godchildren along with my boyfriends three amazing kids... I have a passion for kreating one of a kind cards for family and friends and am determined to bring back snail mail and the delight happy mail brings to others.. I have been an avid family paparazzi since high school so I've had the fun of kreating several scrapbooks over the years.. My two favorite things are Scrapbooking and Cards.. I look forward to spending this month with you and having some Kreative fun... How long have you been scrapbooking?  I have been scrapbooking since my senior year in High School (1989) and remember my first book was of me, family and friends from Kindergarden age through Senior year...

What is your scrapbook style? I would describe my scrapbooking style as clean and classic. I pair my pictures in a story manner with embellishments that match my activity. I use die cuts, stamping, paper art and just have fun..

Where do you create your projects? I have a very large area in my bedroom (an office area) that my boyfriend helped design so I have plenty of space for all my tools and fun designing.

What is your favorite scrapbooking tools/colors/techniques? I absolutely love Xyron adhesives.. I use it for cards, scrapbooking etc.. I love using solids with pattern paper for unique pages and use glitz whenever possible As for techniques, I'd say my favorite scrapbooking technique is keeping journaling fun and part of the page.

Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration from anywhere really.. I can be in a store and see a color combo and think; uhh I need to add that to my scrapbook or use for card ideas.. I also look through magazines for card inspiration.. Usually my scrapbook pages come from tying in the event in the pictures to coordinating page colors and embellishments.

What is favorite scrapbooking tip?  Keep it simple and add as much journaling to really capture the feelings of the day/event..



Hi Everyone, I'm so excited to share with you today.. I'd like to challenge you to create Simple and Elegant Thank You's.. January is here and what better way to start the year than to say Thank you for those special gifts just recieved, or a simple Thank you for your friendship. I've created a Thank you using an 8.5 x 11 sheet (which I cut in half) of Kraft paper and stamped a Thanks using a Lovely Labels stamp from THE CRAFT'S MEOW and the sentiment is from PAPER SMOOCHES Chit Chat set.. After Stamping both in Black, I used a Spellbinder's Labels 18 to cut the image out.. This was all done in 3 easy steps. I added the red ribbon for a splash of color, mounted the die cut image with mounting tape and the card was complete.     

Here's your challenge should you chose to play along. Create a Thank you using die cuts and ribbon for a quick elegant design. Add your card to the linky tool and I will choose a winner on Wednesday evening of January 31st. The announcement will be made on February 1st.   The prize you will be creating for is a roll of my fave Sugar n Spice ribbon..
